Count Greven returns home after a 2 year expedition. With him, is a stolen statue of Buddha. Tormented by guilt, visions of an Indian high priest visit him in dreams telling him he only has 7 years to live.
It’s hard to believe this is directed by the same guy who did Caligari. It’s quite bland – visually and thematically. With a run time of less than 60 minutes, it doesn’t cover much ground. This is apparently cut down from the original version of 72 minutes, and the original soundtrack was lost. The soundtrack used is a bit obnoxious as well.
There’s not much here to say anything about. It’s not particularly bad, but it’s not good. It’s just quite dull and pointless. It’s a fairly typical film of its time and they tend to just not age very well.
