Some time ago on my forum, someone made a list of the “films that inspire lust, romance and longing within [them]”, which prompted me to expand a similar list I’d made a long time ago. Some people said that my list ‘scared’ them and that it was ‘apparent’ that I was into BDSM and rape. Which I am not, but based on those comments and other people’s lists, I think it’s obvious that this kind of list is going to be quite personal and random.
The films on here are generally on here because of my attraction to someone in them, rather than acts that may be happening. So I’ve decided to just briefly go through my top 10 on here, but a link to my full list is at the bottom.
10. The Crying Game (1992)
At the beginning of the film, I thought Stephen Rea was kind of gross. And then I think his accent got to me and I started finding him attractive. The reason it’s in my top 10 is that scene when he watches Dil performing. It’s ridiculously intense.
9. Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)
This is the most recent addition to this list, as I only watched the film in October 2014. And it may seem like an odd inclusion since it is a children’s movie with children as the main characters, but fear not all my attention is on Jonathan Pryce who is just ridiculously goddamn smoking hot and intense.
8. Psycho (1960)
Again, perhaps a strange choice for a ‘sexy’ list, but as you’ve probably noticed I do like intense guys. I also like adorably lanky and awkward guys as well. That stuttering scene alone is enough for this to get on the list, but then you’ve got all those awkward little giggles and I just die.
7. House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
This is mostly residual from when I was 13, I think, because I was pretty obsessed with Otis back then. I like the crazy psycho guy thing. I’m not sure if there is meant to be a slight erotic undertone here or if I’m imagining it.
6. Badlands (1973)
This is the only Malick film I like and I’m pretty sure it’s 100% due to Martin Sheen being damn fine in the 70s. And that fecking white shirt, man.
5. La piscine (1969)
Pre-80s Delon is just beautiful in anything, but La Piscine in Bluray really is something else. The rest of the film isn’t at the level of the first scene, but that man is seriously a work of art.
4. A Clockwork Orange (1971)
That record shop bit and the Singin’ in the Rain scene are the major reasons for this inclusion. Although McDowell aged terribly, he was pretty magnetic in his younger days. And I think they really use that in this film to keep Alex sympathetic to a degree.
3. Fish Tank (2009)
I am generally not a body person, but I think Michael Fassbender’s body in this film is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. Like his back is so beautiful and I’ve never looked at a back sexually before. Plus he has an Irish accent and he’s beautiful and it’s a seriously sexually charged film. I don’t like the film that much but I do have to give it props for that.
2. Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
I love this film and it’s due to a number of reasons but Colin Firth just oh my god. He has so many of these intense staring scenes and they linger a few seconds longer than they should so you get super amped. His character is slightly annoying and douchey but he is just so beautiful it doesn’t even matter.
1. Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989)
I first watched this a week before I turned 16 and I’d never been so enamored by anyone in my life. James Spader is literally the personification of sex here. That floofy hair gets me every time. I recently rewatched it and it was even more amazing than I remembered. And it’s not just Spader being ridiculously hot, the film is so well-crafted that every second of it oozes sexiness. But I can’t imagine this film working without the wonder that is James Spader.
